The following listing of institutions, historical societies, and professional agencies represent lectures and workshops I have presented over the past 32 years to professionals working in museums, caring for cultural property, conservators, librarians, and archivists. American Association of Museums, Pittsburgh, PA Presented a portion of a half-day workshop entitled, “Pest Control Without Fumigation” organized by Janice Klein, Registrar, University Museum at the 1988 Annual Conference.

American Association of State and Local History, Winterthur, Greenville, Delaware (Site of the workshop) Presented the Wood-Destroying Organism portion of an AASLH-sponsored workshop entitled, “Conservation of Metal and Wood Artifacts,” Winterthur Museum, Greenville, DE, March 30 – April 3, 1980. Presented “Museum Marauders” at the 52nd Annual Meeting of AASLH in Miami, FL, September 16, 1992.

American Society of Archivists, Washington, DC Presented an IPPM program at the annual conference on September 1, 1995.

The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois Course sponsored by the Getty Conservation Institute entitled, “Collections Care and Management,” Session I, June 20-July 1, 1988. Presented a one-day IPPM workshop on June 29, 1988.

Association of Illinois Museums and Historical Societies, Springfield, IL Presented “Museum Marauders: Pest Control in Museums, Historic Houses, Libraries, and Archives” in Danville, IL, May 17, 1994.

Atlantic County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs Presented a half-day workshop entitled, “Controlling Pests,” held at the Atlantic County Library, Mays Landing, NJ and sponsored by the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), December 1, 2004.

Buffalo State College, Buffalo, NY A one-day workshop entitled, “Museum Marauders” presented to the Art Conservation Program students on February 12, 1988, November 10, 1989 and December 11, 1992.

California Preservation Program Presented “Controlling Insects: Where Eating is Not Permitted” and “Be Prepared … Managing a Mold Invasion” at William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, Los Angeles, CA, October 18, 19, 2004 and Berkeley Public Library, Berkeley, CA, October 21, 22, 2004, co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Preservation Network (LAPNet) and the Berkeley Public Library, supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services & Technology Act, administered by the California State Library.

The Dayton Museum of Natural History, Dayton, OH Presented a half-day IPPM workshop to staff of the museum, October 24, 1990.

Eastern Washington Regional Archives, Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA Presented “Demystifying Mold” Workshop, July 18, 2006.

Environmental Protection Agency, Region 1, IPPM Conference, Marlborough, MA Presented a session entitled “Wood Destroying Organism IPPM,” at the Structural Integrated Pest Management Conference, September 25, 1996.

Federation of Historical Services, Old Chatham, NY Presented a two-day IPPM workshop entitled, “Museum Marauders” to members on November 17 and 18, 1980. Troy, NY, presented a one-day IPPM workshop entitled, “Museum Marauders” to archivists, registrars, technicians, curators and other museum professionals on May 13, 1985.

Landis Valley Farm Museum, Lancaster, PA Presented “Museum Marauders” IPPM Workshop to museum staff, October 9, 1993.

Louisiana State Library, Baton Rouge, LA Presented a workshop entitled, “Demystifying Mold” – December 5, 2006, sponsored by Solinet.

The University of Michigan Museum of Art, Ann Arbor, MI Presented a two-day “Museum Marauders” IPPM Workshop, sponsored by the Michigan Council for the Arts, January 17-18, 1980.

Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums, Newark, DE Delivered an Integrated Preventive Pest Management (IPPM) presentation at a conference entitled, “Upgrading the Museum Environment,” at two sites; Lancaster, PA on February 25, 1992 and Syracuse, NY on April 1, 1992, sponsored by IMS.

Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums, Friends of the State Museum of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Washington Crossing Historic Park, PA Presented a portion of an IPPM program entitled “It’s Alive” on March 25, 1996.

Monmouth County Library, Region V, Library Cooperative, Manalapan, NJ Presented a one-day IPPM workshop entitled, “Museum Marauders”, May 20, 1992.

The National Museum of Natural History/Smithsonian Institute & The Association of Systematics Collections Was a participant on the faculty of the working group which compiled the book, Pest Control in Museums, based on an invitational workshop at Belmont Mansion near Baltimore, MD on April 20-23, 1980. Wrote and edited portions of the manuscript for this publication. Wrote the chapter entitled, “Pesticide Terminology” for the 1988 revision, edited by Lynda A. Zycherman, for the Foundation of The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works and the ASC.

New Jersey Historical Commission, Princeton, NJ Presented a two-day IPPM workshop, entitled “Museum Marauders” to museum professionals on November 19, 1994 and November 18, 1995.

New York Public Library, New York, NY Presented “Museum Marauders”, May 22, 2006, sponsored by the Northeast Document Conservation Center, Andover, MA.

New York State Library, Albany, NY Presented an IPPM Workshop and a “Demystifying Mold” Workshop, January 9-10, 2007.

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Albany, NY Presented a one-day IPPM workshop, sponsored by CSEA, to maintenance and curatorial staff as well as various site administrators on March 2, 1992.

Osterreichische Nationalbibliotheck, Vienna, Austria Presented a paper entitled, Integrated Preventive Pest Management for Libraries at the first Conference on Preservation of Library Materials sponsored by the Conference of Directors of National Libraries in Cooperation with IFLA and UNESCO, April, 1986. Proceedings were later published.

Palinet, Philadelphia, PA Presented a one-day workshop for professionals entitled “Demystifying Mold,” Philadelphia 2/8/96 and Pittsburgh 2/1/96. Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Harrisburg, PA Presented a four-day Pesticide Certification Training Workshop for statewide Commission maintenance and curatorial staff, February 24-27, 1992.; Maintenance Seminar, November 16, 2000; Maintenance Seminar, October 20, 2003.

Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Military Museum, Boalsburg, PA Presented a one-day IPPM workshop entitled “Wood-Destroying Organisms – Identification, Damage Recognition, Prevention, Treatment, and Control” for maintenance personnel, October 23, 1996.

Rutgers School of Communication, Information and Library Studies, New Brunswick, New Jersey One-day IPPM workshop entitled, “Museum Marauders” presented February 21, 1992; November 17, 1998; November 15, 2000; October 30, 2002, October 29, 2004, November 17, 2006.

United States Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Harpers Ferry Center, Harpers Ferry, WVA Presented a three-day IPPM workshop to curators, conservators, and museum technical personnel, April 2-4, 1979.

United States Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Northeast Region, Bushkill, PA Presented a session dealing with IPPM and Wood-Destroying Organisms, July 12, 2000.

University of Pennsylvania Museum, Philadelphia, PA Since 1986, have presented a 1-day workshop each Fall for staff and interns, entitled “IPPM for the University Museum.”

Western New York Library Resources Council, Buffalo, NY Presented a one-day workshop entitled, “Integrated Preventive Pest Management for Museum and Library Professionals” and “Demystifying Mold,” September 17, 2004.

Winterthur Museum, Greenville, Delaware One-day IPPM workshop entitled, “Museum Marauders” presented to the Conservation Program graduate students on January 12, 1981; January 12, 1982; November 28, 1983; November 4, 1985; December 15, 1987; October 25, 1989; May 13, 1992; October 12, 1994; November 6, 1996; February 10, 1999; November 10, 2000; January 8, 2001; January 3, 2002; January 8, 2003; January 5, 2004; January 7, 2005, and January 4, 2006, and January 3, 2007. Also presented a “Demystifying Mold” workshop to volunteers for Hurricane Katrina.
